Elijah, The Tishbite – Let’s Talk About Mental Health – Recovery & Mental Wellbeing
Elijah, The Tishbite – Let’s Talk About Mental Health – Recovery & Mental Wellbeing builds on the success of the conversations started about mental health with our project, Elijah, The Tishbite – Let’s Talk About Mental Health by creating a conducive forum to talk about recovery from mental health challenges, maintaining mental wellbeing and developing a resilient attitude.
We plan to produce the following:
- Jeremiah & Family Part 2: A short drama film that demonstrates recovery from mental health challenges.
- Mental Wellbeing Support Group: A short drama film that highlights support techniques, approaches and systems that will assist to maintain mental wellbeing.
- Elijah, The Tishbite Online Course: An online course that outlines the strategies that assisted Elijah in the recovery process and their equivalent strategies from medical science perspectives.
The aim of our project includes:
- Taking the conversations to the phase of talking about recovery process from mental health challenges.
- Showing how the strategies that assisted Elijah in the recovery process and their equivalent strategies from medical science perspectives can help others to recover from mental health challenges.
- Highlighting support techniques, approaches and systems that will assist to maintain mental wellbeing.
- Outlining approaches that will assist to develop a resilient attitude to navigate changes in life.
We will organize series of Let’s Talk About Mental Health events around the subject of mental health, recovery, mental wellbeing and resilience. Our target audience is primarily Christians and congregations in our local communities. We plan to explore opportunities to reach the wider Christian community via collaborations and online events.
Our project will present opportunities to highlight:
- That recovery from mental health challenges is possible and achievable.
- Facilitate an environment that supports maintaining mental wellbeing.
- Address the influence of mental wellbeing on overall wellbeing including physical wellbeing, emotional wellbeing, financial wellbeing, relationship wellbeing etc.
- Position us to become resilient in dealing with challenges of life.
- Facilitate the growth of a Christian community that appreciates science as a gift from God and is committed to exploring and engaging with it.
Elijah, The Tishbite – Let’s Talk About Mental Health – Recovery & Mental Wellbeing is funded with a grant from the Scientists in Congregations programme run by Equipping Christian Leadership in an Age of Science (ECLAS), Durham.
Scientists in Congregations and the ECLAS project are funded by a £6.3 million grant from the John Templeton Foundation, running 2023-27. ECLAS is led from St John’s College, Durham University in partnership with the University of York and the Church of England.
